Top 7 from each division roll out in the Kierin "Bring It"

This week’s Races
•   Round 1   warm up Scratch
•   Round 2   no race (save time)
   Round 3  Kierin
•   Round 4  Point a Lap

•   Round 5  Handicap Combine (30 laps) + Hillbrick Club Challenge Italian Pursuit  +CNSW time blaster  (8:22 record Scott Law 2008 )
•   Round 6 Race video replays, Pizza and Beer at the Kiosk + Presentation and Music Video

In Most divisions the top 7 will face off in the Kierin. The top 7 heat will be the last heat of each division.

Explain these races
Kierin- The keirin is a motorpaced event that is very popular in Japan where it originated. In that country, huge amounts of money are bet on races and professional keirin riders command impressive salaries. It is similar to the match sprint, but features 6-8 riders on the track. A derny motorbike paces the riders from 25 km/h up to 45 km/h for the first few laps. During this time, riders jostle each other for the best position and this is often the roughest part of the event. With two and a half laps to go, the derny bike pulls off and the sprint is on. Team tactics are important here, as the leadout is often quite long. If one team can get two of their riders in the final, then they are at a distinct advantage. reference www.cyclingnews.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CxkGOgoAOM&feature=channel

Point'a'Lap- The race is run similar to a point score-however each lap is a sprint for first place only and worth one point. The overall winner is the rider with the most points.

In most grades riders will have 5 laps of non-point scoring followed by 10 laps of point'a'lap
.

CNSW  Time Blaster

•   On the final night of each season the money ($100) only goes off if the record is broken

Large numbers
•   Usually we can expect a few extra cyclists to help celebrate the final night.
•   To ensure everyone gets their full program of racing in…….;

•   Riders will be encourage to be prompt to their starting positions
•   1 lap warm down rule will apply.

A message from LACC to DHBC
Each week The Big friendly Vegan has been posting a cheeky gif on the DHBC forum

I believe that LACC have conceded defeat for the minor premiers position…. Well played by both clubs!
Bring on the final!

Grade point scores are frozen (for series contenders)
• By this I mean that the Division you are in now on the point score will be the one you will earn points for the rest of the season, even if you change divisions.
• So if you move from Div 3 to Div 2 this week your name will remain in the Div 3 point score.

Who is hot and who is not (for TWE Point Series)

For week 14  Final

    V's

Div 1:
Hot: Tirian McManus clean sweep … Ben Harvey… Will win 2013 RAW Track
Not: Brad Heap …….missed the points again last week

Ben Harvey doesn’t even have to turn up to win the series…. He should though to collect his prizes!
2nd to 5th will be a mighty battle! There are 5 riders with a legitimate claim on 2nd place and no places are certain.

Top 5 contenders
Ben Harvey   221
Scott Mills   167
Bradley Heap   166
Joshua Cornish    163
Daniel Van der laan    162
Jack Schwarze   162

Div 2:
Hot: Gary Mandy  and Geoff Baxter
Not: Jack Morgan … missed the points

Geoff Baxter maintained  his 10 point buffer on Gary Mandy. I think it may be enough?

Top 5 contenders
Geoff Baxter**    206
Gary Mandy   196
Eric MacDonald   182
Elliot Stacey**   170
Jack Morgan    163
Procter Morris    160

Div 3:
Hot: Ian Docherty
Not: Damon Brunt
Ian Docherty has been very focused and driven over the last few weeks, is he the rider who may topple Sean Brunt’s lead
Top 5 contenders
Sean Brunt    192
Ian Docherty    188
Kurt Allen    187
James Orton    179
Geoff Wilson    164

Damon Brunt    163
Stelio Pappas **   163

Div 4:
Hot: Nigel Apps
Not: four riders in the top 8 missed out last week
Has Nigel done enough? He has a 12 point lead going into the final night. I am sure he will be doing the math to determine when he can finally relax.

Top 5 contenders
Nigel Apps   221
Phillip Dobe   209
Steffi Taylor    173
Nick Hardcastle   172
Peter Rox   161
Mark Bezzina   159

Div 5

Hot: John Crnogorac  perfect night last week
Not:
Broughton with a third place on the final night will guarantee his victory. The top 5 has been sorted however the final order needs to be determined.

Thomas Murray    183
