The Aqto / Bernard Beer 1.5km wheel-race Handicapping is always an interesting beast. Over the last two wheel-races the div 1 riders have only just made the top 3 in results. So when I bumped div 3 and 4 riders forward an additional 5m I was convinced that it would be a night for the lower divisions.
Clearly I was wrong! I hadn’t counted on Gavin white, Ben Harvey and Josh Cornish teaming well to deliver Scott Law to the lead group at 60km/h with 2 laps remaining. When Scott arrived he actually backed off before launching a sprint on the bell lap.
In the words of div 2 rider Scott Mills who would finish 3rd “I looked over my shoulder and saw Law on my hip, I knew instantly that we were screwed”. On the last lap the only question was who would get second. Mills was placed well however “the Silver fox” Gary Mandy easily floated around the outside to claim 2nd place.
Current National Track Champion, Scott Law was delighted to win the ultra cool Aqto T-shirt and carried his form from the Track to the road completing an amazing triple play over three days
