Possible that both Simon & Bradley Wiggins went rubber side up at pretty much the same time with similar injuries? Freaky!!

Best wishes to Simon (and his matching set of funny shaped bones) for a speedy recovery.

I'm sure he will bounce back stronger than before.

Simon has posted on DHBC forum

Thanks e everybody for the well wishes & bringing my bike home.
It's a bizarre experience to read about the condition of my bike without seeing it! but that fits what I thought happened. I was sitting at about 5th wheel & there was someone the front who was really determined to slow the race down. first someone else road around him and sped it up. then he somehow got back on the front and slowed it down again, annoying everyone. the second time Dave went around him and sped it up dramatically. Dave then swung up and must of just assumed he had split the field when swung down as he didn't see me and at first I think just kind of bounced off but must of lost his balance and I was nearly past him when his bars went through my rear wheel & I went sky bourne landing on my shoulder. My right collar bone popped on impact & we both slid from the track to the infield.
My body is ok otherwise. a few bruises on my hip and thigh. taken the skin off my forearm too. But I'm ok.
cheers Simon.

Hi all,

Thanks for the well wishes. Sorry I didn't read this thread abit earlier. My collarbone was broken and displaced quite significantly in a few peices, similar to last time I broke the opposite one in Goulburn 18 months back. I had surgery and it has been repaired now.

I have an appointment with my specialist this friday, I should be back on a trainer in a week or so. Probably won't be back racing by the end of RAW but will then start riding again heading into the opens season and state titles. I have been enjoying the spectating for the last few weels so will probably be out at RAW most week enjoying some socialing and the finer parts of cycling that don't involve getting on a bike! So come and say hello.

Cheers Simon!
