"No Race Report" (With apologies to Dr Seuss) There is no race report from me. No race report from DGV. The reason it is plain to see. Friday night was crap for me. I did not even win a race I did not even get a place I wasnt even on the pace I left early in disgrace.

Mikes Div3 report
By Wednesday night the 3 Michael's were finalising our preparation for RAW with a beer and a steak at the local at Tempe, then some cake back at my place - calorie loading is all important.
In the afternoon at work I was really struggling to stay awake. Sitting at my desk typing away on my computer was killing me.
Round 1 - Warm up scratch race They rode around at a pace slower than an old lady driving to church on Sunday morning, I was sucking Alex Simmons wheel. When Alex got to the front he cruised for 1/2 lap and rolled. On the front I maintained the same pace, but it was pretty slow, I didn't see the point of rolling, so I didn't and then with about 4 1/2 laps to go, I cranked it up for a 2 laps and then rolled and watched the now speeded up pack fight it out.
Back in the middle I sucked down 2/3 can of Mother, would of been a whole can but one of the other Michael's knocked it over, I shouldn't of put it down on the ground. Then I made a pillow out of a bag of clothes and had a snooze.
Round 2 - No event this week
Round 3 - Kierin Div 3 heat 3 Still feeling pretty tired, I rolled around, I think I was second last wheel. When the motorbike rolled off, Iast wheel went past me and I followed thru, but I lost a bit of momentum as it cranked up. I ended up on the back of annoying's wheel, while some riders died leaving 4 of us to take the points. Perhaps I should of contested the other places but I couldn't be bothered, I was still really tired, so how I saw it, I had a point (or was it double points) and that will do.
Another snooze in the middle, those gym mats are comfory. I needed to rest for my premier event.... the miss'em out.
I think I hit the vending machine for a muesli bar but perhaps it was later. Calories are a cyclist friend.
Round 4 - Miss'n'out Pointscore I cruised around mid field until there was a lack of riders behind me, then I went around the outside and took the front and cruised around on front and then there was one where I realised that all of the riders were in a line across the start finish with no one tucked in, so it was time to start working with 5 riders left. A rider came around and took the front off me and this is where I suffered serve brain fade. What is the cardinal rule of Miss'n'out that I abide by...Never be second wheel on the inside late in the race. And guess what... I got boxed in. I considered wacking on the anchors and then sprinting for the outside, but I was a bit close to the finish line, I looked for a gap to squeeze in, but it was a bit tight, I could of done it, but I didn't consider that it was 100% safe and its a race not war, no need to take risks, better to let it go and go kick myself for being so stupid. So I roll back to take my place on the motorbike, but I was still kicking myself for being so stupid and couldn't be bothered with the sprint.
Please congratulate Alex Simmons on his win in Miss'n'out Pointscore. Well done Alex !!!!!
Round 5 - Fast group Combine Struggled a little at first and then felt better, rolled around the outside towards the front. Don't remember where I came, something like 6th.
Round 6 - Beer o'clock Micklan was having withdrawal symptoms from insufficient beer consumption and moved the ute closer for a fast entry while I got my act together. On the video I saw a replay of how stupid I was in the miss'n'out and continued to kick myself.
OK, now I've written this report, I starting to kick myself about that miss'n'out, yeh I know, that's racing.

yeah I'll just add a little snippet off the div.3 miss'em out. I loved the part when there was 4 of us left, P.harvey out front, Alex on his side, me behind Alex & Emma [I'm sure it was] boxed in, to which she franticly says "move up Pete". And Alex replies "your right Pete'hold your pos.". Whilst I'm thinking to myself {that,s it baby ,you're going nowhere}. Gee these races are so rewarding in so many ways. I hope I don't sound perverted But I probably do. Cause I probably am.

the div 4 miss'n'out had to be up there in the action stakes.... or inaction for about 5 laps while we waited for the motor bike Once we got going though it was thrills and spills - I didn't even know big andrew had experienced his 1st 'off' until after the race, and he must have only been a bike length behind me when it happened, I still didn't see him on the next lap 'round... too busy breathing and trying to stay upright As usual I'm already looking forward to this weeks racing- in the words of a great commentator....bring it on!

Aah the video brings it all back. The Div 5 miss'n'out shook me around a bit. At the time dodging/trying to get around the guy that was swinging around a bit didn't seem too difficult - or perhaps I was too focused on trying to get to the front for it to be of major concern. When I felt my wheel slip a bit the second time (during the push for top three) I was more concerned about crashing and completely forgot what I was meant to be doing in the race. I guess you go into survival mode, which is a shame as I was feeling pretty strong at that stage.
Having said that, I will settle for third place over a crash ANY day.
Div 5 can get pretty hairy. More motivation to get faster and move onto Div 4 for next season.

Don't kid yourself Div 4 is any less hairy Victoria! From my experience and grazed elbow they both have randoms that insist on swinging up unnecessarily without warning or looking. . At least they were thoughtful enough to appologise which was happily accepted.

Div 4 last friday was a night of chasing and I lacked energy....admittedly i did go for a jog at lunchtime on Friday prior to RAW - this is not recommended... so this friday I revert to my usual lunchtime training of steak sandwich & chips and x 2 hahn lights

re Division 5 Point Score Video
After feeling very demoralised after my second attempt at Raw, back in July, I am delighted that when in the limelight, I performed credibly against the younger opposition in the video of the week. I am not usually as lucky as Roxii (or maybe not as gifted or just not as young), but last Friday I beat at least one rider who placed in other races on the night, I more or less kept on the pace until about half of us were eliminated and I scored a Fourth (!) in the kieren. This was my best night so far this year. ( I have not placed before, and am often off the pace, chasing all the young things.
I agree with Victoria, it is very scary when other riders in your race move all over the place and can't keep a straight line. Especially if I don't have the speed to get well away from them.

Whoever posted the comment on the Div 5 youtube video regarding my 'tactic' - there is no way I purposely tried to box anyone in. I wish I was that smart
