Want to join in for the next two races?

If you rode Round 1 @ HEZ and want to apart of 3-race series you can upgrade to the full series for $55. This will give you entry into the Calga round 2, June 23 and the final round July 14 @ Eastern Creek Raceway (not Dragway)

By starting each of the races you will automatically go into the draw to win a CERVELO Disc Frame Set valued at lots $$. The current odds of winning this fantastic prize is 1 in 70 (which if you know odds is great value)

What do you need to do?

Your name will already be on the start sheets at Calga with an asterisk next to it, you simply sign on and pay for the entry.

About Calga: It is an undulating 26km lap course (out and back) The course suits both powerful punchy climbers and sprinters almost equally. The way out to the turnaround is predominantly uphill which makes the return leg extremely fast. This speed is interrupted by the feature climb aptly named “Blood Hill” this 600m long bump can be the launching pad for a winning move, however the riders will need to be super strong as the 3.2km to the finish is again fast and slightly downhill. Generally, the riders are not exposed to the wind too much at Calga but if it is up for the day expect some real tough racing and leave the deep-dish front at home. The road surface is not as smooth as HEZ so a slightly lower tyre pressure may assist some.

Division 1
Christian Godyn went form the base of Blood to win the Prime. This was a better tactic then his 2018 prime winning move from km zero.
First major break of the day was brought back promptly. The second break of Neppl, Sinteur and Chris Schofield was given a bit of space. At the end of the second lap they had 1min 15 seconds. The gap extended slightly in the last 26km's. At the base of Blood Neppl opened a 5 second lead on Sinteur which he held to the finish 3km latter

The bunch sprint for 3rd was a very close sprint between DHUEZ's Jordon Ross and St George's Luke Cridland. The Photo gave it to Jordon. However both riders received a warning form the Commissaire for 2 infringements. Ross, for moving off his line with the intention of forcing a rider into the outside lane. Cridland for entering the outside lane.

Millington did more than enough to defend the yellow jersey.

Division 2

Kevin Berkeley's defence of the Yellow Jersey was more attack then defence, as he repeatedly tried to get a move going. I am guessing that the bunch came to the base of Blood on the final lap all together when Ben Exerly and Matt Hazard forged a lead. Exley's determination over the top of the climb gapped the Park Life rider and he stayed away for a solid victory.
I believed that Berkleys 3rd place in the bunch sprint was enough to retain the lead however on points calculations he now sits 1 point behind new leader Exerly.

Division 3
On the first assent of Blodd hill Sam Leach surged ahead. He took this as a good omen for the second lap. Sam broke the field over the top of the final climb. At this stage Campbell Fuller was in the second group. Despite their best intentions, the leaders were unable to maintain a gap and the peloton was all together for a bunch gallop. Campbell was not going to waste his good fortune came to the front with 150m to go. A photo had to decide 2nd place

Fuller was all smiles on the podium with the realisation he would be in Yellow for the final Round.

Division 5      across the line
Apparently the 12.5km Neutral zone was a little fast for the div 5 group although you would not have known it when you saw them start. They smashed the first 10km and a large number of riders were dropped early.
Ian Granger jumped away on Blood to take the prime and this forced even more speed out of the group. Thus reducing the size even more. By the finish only 11 riders made it to contest the sprint.
Thomas Muckle was very eager to do well after his good showing at Hez and well he did. The 71 year old the young riders butts.

On Age adjusted Thomas won that by an even bigger margin. I have had a lot of positive feedback about the age adjusted format of Div 5, there has been some negative feedback as well. The concept of the Div 5 is an added grade to ensure there is a race for all masters but the balance of trying to keep this divisions intensity less. Not an easy task.
I have noted an interesting Pattern in the ages of the top 7 riders on Points
71, 69, 61, 71, 61, 71, 71
(7 to 1 +71)
